Cancer Support Services

Oncology Social Workers

There are few things as shocking as hearing the words “you’ve got cancer.” You’re now in a battle for your life…but at the same time you’re worrying about the impact on your family, your job, your finances and dozens of other issues. Evergreen’s cancer support services makes sure you don’t have to go through this alone.

You may be wondering how you’re going to pay for treatment, or even how you’ll get to your treatments when you don’t feel up to driving. It can be overwhelming. Evergreen's Oncology Social Workers have the information and resources to help you through it.

Oncology Social Workers act as a giant clearinghouse of information, from help with insurance, finances and legal issues to lending emotional support and lining patients up with Evergreen support groups or services at Cancer Lifeline. Since each cancer patient is unique, so is the information provided by the Oncology Social Workers. If patients need general information about support, they’ll pull it all together. If patients need transportation to treatments, they’ll get rides set up. If patients are having trouble paying their rent or purchasing food, they’ll find assistance for that as well. And if there’s something they don’t know…they’ll get the answers.

Cancer support services are available to all Evergreen cancer patients and those they define as their family. The social workers currently meet with all Radiation Oncology patients and patients referred to them by Medical Onoclogists in the community. Patients and families can also contact the social workers by calling 425.899.2265.
